In 2025, the US will experience the fastest expansion of the US electric grid in generations. One driving cause is the increase in the energy usage of data centers. In 2023, data centers accounted for 4.4% of the total US electricity usage and is projected to account for as much as 12.0% by 2028.

As the demand for energy in increasing, so is the addition of clean energy sources.

However, these new clean energy sources are being added quickly enough to meet the needs of the increased demands of US power grid. And so, the use of other non-renewable sources continue to fill this gap.
